  • North Country native, extremely busy family man with wife and 3 children
  • Teacher of  Biology, Earth Science & Environmental Science since 1988
  • Honors research in association with the University of Vermont
  • High School Environmental Club adviser for many years

 Miriam MorrowVice President

  • Busy wife, mother of 2 and grandmother of 4 boys
  • Retired elementary school teacher of  25 years
  • Loves the outdoors especially gardening, camping and traveling
  • Born and raised in Brooklyn and Long Island but left the city to enjoy small town living and the fresh air

Betty Robillard, Secretary

  • Born and raised in Massena
  • Married with 2 boys
  • Recently retired, but now working seasonally as a paralegal with the firm of Lekki, Hill,  Fischer and Duprey, P.C.
  • Always interested in science and nature
  • Happiest when outdoors, enjoying all that nature’s seasons offer
  • Continuing to learn and believe in sharing this to preserve the importance of nature with the next generation

Tony Perry, Treasurer

  • Born and raised in Massena, busy husband and father of 2 children
  • Active member of Massena Little League for past 10 years, current Director of Coach Pitch League, avid Massena High School sports fan
  • Outdoor enthusiast, enjoys hiking, camping & fishing; locally & in the Adirondacks
  • Employed by Frenchie’s Chevrolet for over 11 years, certified GM paint & refinishing specialist
  • Owned & operated “Perry’s Sports Cards” for 9 years, enjoy working with the public

Ross Violi, Trustee

  • Owns & operates the fine restaurant, “Violi’s” with his family, specializing in Italian entrees
  • Longtime community advocate
  • Strong supporter of the Nature Center for 3 generations now
  • Active, loves to play golf & enjoy fine food

Emily Tarbell, Trustee

  • Born and raised in Akwesasne, one of 17 children
  • Have had many nieces and nephews over the years that I’ve taken to the Nature Center for various events and activities
  • Learned how to cross-country ski myself there many years ago
  • Have always appreciated the Nature Center as the ideal spot where I can see, hear, taste, smell and feel all that the Creator has provided for us to be happy. All that the Creator asks is that we give our greetings and thanks in return
  • Am proud to be a member of the Friends group and encourage family and friends to take advantage of all that it has to offer

Barbara Taylor, Trustee

  • Massachusetts native, mother, C.E.R.T member AZ
  • Volunteer with C.A.T.S, Fort Covington & Akwesasne spay/neuter
  • USAF veteran
  • Parrot rescue & education
  • Amateur radio operator, AD7NS
  • Wildlife Rehabilitator
  • Love nature- Quaking bogs, Saguaro cacti, Brown Pelicans, Bio-luminescent Fungi and waterfalls of the Kancamagus

Randy Freiman, Trustee

  • Science teacher at Massena High School
  • Business owner/operator; Perfection Auto Dealer
  • Married with 2 kids and 3 dogs
  • Avid outdoors-man and environmentalist

Martha Duchersherer, Trustee

  • Special education teacher at Massena High School
  • Wife and mother of 2 great children
  • Certified Yoga teacher
  • Outdoor enthusiast

Mark Berninghausen, Trustee

  • Busy family man with a wife and 3 children who love the outdoors
  • Owner and operator of Squeak Creek Apiaries for over 15 years
  • NYS Apiary Inspector
  • Strong advocate of promoting local business, especially farms
  • Previously enjoyed working at Colonial Williamsburg in Virginia with his wife
