The Friends of the Nature Center offer a membership to classrooms and clubs. The classroom membership is $20. Many teachers use this as a way to teach their students about stewardship. The class might collect empty bottles to return for deposit, or do a Penny-for-Nature Drive, or just ask each student to bring in a dollar, with the teacher making up the difference.
Once the class has joined the Friends, Nature Center staff gives them a special certificate for their classroom and every student and teacher receives a colorful “Friend of the Nature Center” button to wear. The staff also takes a photo of the class to display in a special exhibit area in the Touch Room at the center. Sometimes the photo may also be printed in our newsletter.
Clubs, such as Scouts, 4-H & even adult community organizations can also join the Friends of the Nature Center to show stewardship and support. The membership fee for this is $25 and the same benefits apply as listed above for classrooms. Both groups are also listed as member in our newsletter, Goose Tracks!
